Tell Us What You Think: The Front Entrance

This week a new seasonal foliage display was installed at the front entrance to the community by our landscape contractor, Brickman. Use the Comments link below to tell us what you think. Click the photo to see a larger image.

the entrance display is fine except for the squash, which looks like it was lined up by children. The cornucopias were appropriate, but lining up squash doesn't make sense. wouldn't kale look more interesting? it would be cost effective if there were a permanent low evergreen ground cover with borders of seasonal plants.

I think it looks wonderful. the tall grasses and berry laden twigs give a nice height while the interesting variety of squash/pumpkins add a bit of whimsy. I agree with the other comment that perhaps a better arrangement could be done, but it's still nice.

Wow! Uh... that was not a good "wow".

I don't know where to start. I am sorry to have to say but I don't like it at all. I haven't really seen pumpkins used in a landscape before but if you insist on doing that, I am quite certain there are probably a few dozen better ways to do it.

I am not familiar with your area, but in our area those plants between the pumpkins and the wall would be called weeds. Maybe they looked nice in the summer but they look weedy in that photo. It looks like an area that hasn't been cleaned up in a long time and has started growing lots of weeds. Not attractive and not clean looking.

I am not sure what the tall purple ornamental grass-like things are. But I don't understand why they look so narrow and then only fray out at the top. Those look like odd purple corn stalks tied together or something. But whatever they are, again, not so attractive.

I like the sign! :-) But otherwise, I am sorry to say it looks very messy. I could make that look amazing in less than 1 day. I am not sure what that company was thinking. Sorry to be negative. Just giving my honest opinion. What do YOU guys think? That is, how does the HOA like the way it turned out?

Thanks for your comment, Jim. We try to solicit opinions from our 600 homeowners, but as you can see, other than yourself, only 2 residents responded — anonymously. Checked out your website — you do amazing work.
